Develop complex stored procedures, views, functions, indexes, and SQL scripts using T-SQL. Build operational, paginated, and executive reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Create and maintain dimensional models, star schemas, fact tables, dimension tables, and data marts. Develop or support SSAS tabular and multidimensional models, cubes, measures, KPIs, and DAX/MDX where needed. Analyze source systems, map data elements, create source-to-target mappings, and document transformation logic. Tune SQL queries, execution plans, indexes, partitioning strategies, and ETL workloads for high-volume data processing. Create dashboards and semantic models in Power BI using DAX, Power Query, and published datasets. Implement data validation, reconciliation, audit logging, error handling, and restartability in ETL jobs. Participate in release management, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, environment promotion, and production support. Work with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, define KPIs, and translate business questions into analytics solutions. Maintain data security practices including row-level security, least-privilege access, PII/PHI handling, and compliance controls. Required Skills Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and SQL Server Management Studio. Advanced T-SQL skills: joins, window functions, CTEs, dynamic SQL, temp tables, transactions, error handling, and performance tuning. Strong SSIS development experience including control flow, data flow, package configuration, parameters, logging, deployment, and scheduling. Strong SSRS experience including matrix/table reports, drill-down reports, subscriptions, parameters, expressions, and stored procedure driven datasets. Experience with SSAS tabular or multidimensional models, measures, hierarchies, aggregations, partitions, and processing jobs. Power BI report building experience including data modeling, DAX measures, slicers, bookmarks, row-level security, and workspace publishing. Data warehouse fundamentals: star schema, slowly changing dimensions, surrogate keys, fact/dimension design, and incremental loads. Experience troubleshooting ETL failures, production incidents, data quality issues, and report performance problems. Strong documentation skills for technical design, data mapping, deployment notes, and support runbooks. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD deployment automation. Experience with healthcare claims, eligibility, finance, compliance, transportation, or public sector data. Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, lineage, data quality rules, and master/reference data. Familiarity with Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, JSON, XML, and file-based integrations such as CSV, Excel, SFTP, and S3/Azure Blob. Experience migrating legacy SSIS/SSRS solutions or modernizing on-prem SQL Server BI workloads to cloud platforms. Deliverables and Success Criteria Reliable ETL packages with clear logging, alerting, and recovery steps. Accurate SSRS and Power BI reports that reconcile to source systems and business-approved totals. Optimized SQL queries with acceptable runtime, reduced blocking, and documented index recommendations. Well-documented source-to-target mappings and technical design artifacts. Production releases completed through controlled promotion, testing evidence, and rollback planning.
